Roisin Doherty

Roisin is a Curator at the Tower Museum, Derry, and has worked in the museum sector since 1997. She holds a BA (Hons) in Archaeology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Irish Heritage Management, and an MPhil in Archaeology. Her career includes roles as Research Assistant at Donegal County Museum, Curator at Monaghan County Museum, and Head of the Heritage and Museum Service at Derry City Council.

She has curated major exhibitions, including the Armada exhibition, the Broighter Hoard loan, and the Decade of Centenaries 2016–2021 programme. Notable projects include the John Hume Peace Prizes Collection and the Derry Girls Experience. She is currently involved in the development of the new DNA Museum in Derry~Londonderry, focused on the North Atlantic region.

In addition to her curatorial work, Roisin is an independent museum consultant and an active member of several professional groups. She is a former Board Member of the Northern Ireland Museums Council. Passionate about ecclesiastical heritage, her professional interests include governance, leadership, and the transformative potential of museum collections.

Roisin Doherty was elected to the IMA's board of directors in May 2025.
