Gina O'Kelly joined the Irish Museums Association (IMA) in 2011 and, as the senior executive, is responsible for leading and delivering the association's advocacy work and vision in support of the museum sector.
A Licentiate (BA+MA) in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, Spain, Gina has held senior management and curatorial roles with a range of cultural organisations, including general manager of Black Church Print Studio ('09-'11), associate director with Solomon Gallery ('03-'07), and deputy director of Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre ('99-'02). She has a strong interest in learning and communities, having previously led a heritage FETAC programme with DCHC and worked with the community arts organisation Common Ground ('08-'09). She is a board member of Visual Artists Ireland, the Irish representative for EGMUS, and is a representive of the museum sector on a wide range of committees.
As a free-lance project manager she has held responsibility for delivering major national and international touring exhibitions in Europe, USA, South America, South Africa, and the Middle East, public art installation, and blue-chip visual art publications. Gina has substantially increased engagement with the IMA during her time at the helm through the development of strong partnerships, the undertaking of research, and the delivery of an ambitious CPD programme.
