IMA Board elections

19 Apr 2022

Are you passionate about museums? Keen to put your knowledge and skills to use for the benefit of the wider sector, while also gaining new knowledge and skills?

We’re looking for two strategic, talented and engaged IMA members to stand for the IMA board; to advise and guide the association to the next stage of its development.

In your role as a board member, you will help oversee the governance, finances, and activity of the IMA. Becoming an IMA board member is great opportunity to show your commitment to the role and values of the Association, help shape its future, and bring your knowledge of cultural heritage and related sectors’ frameworks to contribute to our shared vision for the museum sector across Ireland – not to mention developing your own professional skills!

Your time commitment will be five board meetings per year and two committee meetings (we follow a rule of 1.5-hour meetings max.!). Board members generally serve for a minimum one term of three years, but you can re-stand for election for up to two more terms (i.e. a total of nine years) or stand down at any time during your service.

Candidates must be full members of the IMA (either Individual members or a nominated representative of an Institutional member), holding active membership at time of nomination. Nominations must be endorsed by another IMA member.

Nominating candidates for office is a valuable service to the IMA and your thoughtful participation in this process is greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in nominating yourself or an IMA colleague, contact Gina O'Kelly on to receive a nomination form and further details. You then have until the 22 May 2022 to complete this and send back to us.
