16 Jun 2021
The Glucksman has been awarded Best Arts and Cultural Centre at the 2021 Irish Enterprise Awards. These prestigious awards, organised by EU Business News, recognise those businesses that remain committed to demonstrating outstanding levels of excellence, customer service and innovation in 2021.
As a leading institution for creative learning and access to visual arts, The Glucksman offers impressive and versatile gallery spaces which have thrilled audiences of all ages and abilities since 2004. The gallery has recently reopened its doors to visitors to view a new exhibition, Home: Being and Belonging in Contemporary Ireland. The 16 artists in this show were selected from 267 proposals from across the island of Ireland and represent works in all media that relate to ideas of residency, placemaking, identity and nationhood.
It promises to be a busy summer for The Glucksman with a number of large scale off-site projects taking place in the coming months, including a new installation by artist Bassam Al Sabah as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, a ground-breaking road mural on Oliver Plunkett St, with artist Fatti Burke, and the conclusion of the Freedom of the City project that is enabling over 1,000 young people to inform the development of the Cork City Development Plan.
The Glucksman team also encourages creative engagement in the digital realm. An online Drawing and Wellbeing workshop for National Drawing Day and a webinar with Ruangrupa, the curators of Documenta 15, booked up quickly, with participants from United Arab Emirates to South Korea, and Canada to West Cork.
Professor Fiona Kearney, Director of the Glucksman, and team are grateful for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you back to the gallery over the summer months. Find out more about Glucksman here
