Dublinia appoints new CEO

3 Jul 2024

Dublinia have announced the appointment of Heather Dowling Wade as new Chief Executive Officer.

With a background in Interior Architecture and Cultural Heritage Management, Heather has extensive experience in the museums and visitor attractions sector, having specialised in design, development, and master planning for attractions of various scales both in Ireland and abroad. Prior to her current appointment, she worked as Dublin Manager for Ireland’s National Tourism Authority, Failte Ireland and co-founded multi-awarding winning DMW Creative Limited, specialising in tourism product development, consultancy, interpretive planning and design.

Dublinia was established in 1993 by The Medieval Trust, a registered charity with education and research as its core objectives. Located in a 1870 Victorian Gothic building adjoining Christchurch Cathedral, Dublinia tells the story of Dublin’s Viking and Medieval past and delivers training in culture, heritage and tour guiding, attracting circa 200,000 visitors annually.

This appointment follows the retirement in May of former CEO Denise Brophy who, over 30 years at the helm of Dublinia, oversaw a series of significant redevelopments and upgrades to the building and exhibitions.
