Limerick Civic Trust museums

Limerick Civic Trust was founded in 1982, and is an independent non-profit society which is registered as a charity. They initiate and undertake projects for the improvement of Limerick’s environment, and collaborate with many different agencies, state bodies, and individuals. There are three core pillars to their work: conservation, environment, and education. Under the heading of conservation, Limerick Civic Trust restore historic properties that have become derelict. They improve the environment in Limerick by maintaining civic spaces such as streets, graveyards, and public monuments. Lastly, they educate and create awareness of the value of Limerick’s heritage through publishing books and pamphlets, organising lectures, and running walking tours throughout the year.
Among the projects led by the Limerick Civic Trust, The People’s Museum of Limerick, at No. 2 Pery Square, reflects the diverse lives of the people, buildings, and streets of the city by showcasing the eclectic and fascinating collection of items in the care of Limerick Civic Trust. In a joint project by the Limerick Civic Trust, the Limerick Museum and the Consular Agency of France in Limerick, the Wild Geese museum at St Munchin’s Church (King's Island), celebrates the city’s rich Wild Geese heritage by giving an overview of the history of those who left Ireland over the centuries and went on to fight in foreign armies across Europe and the world and features a wide range of objects from the collections of the Limerick Museum which had never been put on display before.
