Inishowen Maritime Museum is located overlooking Greencastle Harbour on the banks of the beautiful Lough Foyle. The museum is at the heart of the community, promoting local culture and heritage.
The Old Coast Guard Station has been transformed into a small museum featuring artefacts, photographs, and other maritime memorabilia. The adjacent extension includes a boat display area and gallery. Some of the museum's interpretive themes include the Malin Head Radio Station, Sea Captains, the Drontheim Boat, Irish Naval Service, Spanish Armada Ship - La Trinidad Valencera, Lighthouses, Foyle Pilots, Atlantic Wars at Sea, Emigration, Shipwrecks, and the Greencastle/Magilligan Ferry.
The main mission of the museum is to promote and conserve local maritime history and culture, and encourage a sense of responsibility for local heritage through preservation and education.
