Fermanagh County Museum

Enniskillen-Castle.jpg

Fermanagh County Museum was established in 1976 and opened to the public in 1977. It is part of Fermanagh & Omagh District Council. The Museum’s mission is to:

"Safeguard the history of the local area, its people and its places, as a source of enjoyment, education and culture for all.”

Museum collections have developed with support from external funders and assistance from an active Association of Friends of Fermanagh County Museum, a charitable trust set up to support the work of the Museum. Collections range from prehistory to the present-day, encompassing archaeology, local history, arts and folk-life.

The main collections are housed and displayed within the Enniskillen Castle complex. The historic Castle site includes two Museums: Fermanagh County Museum and The Inniskillings Museum, jointly promoted as Enniskillen Castle Museums.

Visitor-centered and outward-looking in approach, Fermanagh County Museum presents a lively programme of changing exhibitions and events as well as extensive learning and outreach activities for people of all ages.
