Airfield Estate
Home to the Overend family since 1894, Airfield was left in trust to the people of Ireland by Letitia and Naomi Overend in 1974. Today, Airfield House is an interactive tour and exhibition which brings visitors closer to this Dublin family.
Among the displays are family photographs, letters, original clothing, Victorian toys and books, and information on their prize-winning Jersey herd, their charitable work for organisations such as St John Ambulance and The Children’s Sunshine Home (now The Laura Lynn Foundation) to name but a few, and letters from their extensive travels. The Vintage Car Garage includes a 1927 Rolls Royce (restored in 2022 thanks to support from the Heritage Council), an Austin Tickford and their mother’s Peugeot Quadrilette, lovingly nicknamed ‘The Flea’.
Airfield Estate runs a comprehensive programme of life-long learning activities, including Nature and Heritage tours, classes and workshops.
