The museum houses a unique exhibition that, using a superb collection of historic and archaeological artefacts, tells the 1000-year-story of Waterford, from Viking times through medieval times to the present. The exhibition Bronze into Gold, the Bronze Age in the Sunny South-East - has just opened (and runs to 30 September 2010) at Waterford Treasures. This major exhibition, in association with the British Museum, the National Museum of Ireland and the Hunt Museum, deals with Bronze Age settlement, ritual and burial structures, warfare and the superb gold and bronze-working in the south-east of Ireland. Included are stunning gold objects on loan from the British Museum and the NMI, originating in the Waterford area and not seen there for 160 years. There are fourteen magnificent gold bracelets on display, two found in Waterford city in 2006.
Make use of Bridgestone-award-winning cafe onsite in Waterford Treasures and why not extend your visit to include Reginald's Tower just down the street.
