Rathfarnham Castle is the venue for the second IMA visit of 2012 and will include an opportunity to view the Berkeley Costumes and Toy Collection which is on loan to the venue. The Elizabethan castle was adapted as a stately home in the late 18th century. It has recently undergone conservation work by the Office of Public Works and reopened with its new exhibition in November 2011. The Berkeley Costume and Toy Collection comprises 18th and 19th century toys, dolls and costumes. This began as a private passion in Co.Wexford by Irish artist and collector Countess Ann Griffin Bernstorff. The collection was gathered together over many decades from her own family trunks and from auctions and donations. Displayed in the elegant rooms of Rathfarnham Castle it covers the period 1740-1820
