National Labour History Society & National Print Museum

28 July | 11:15 - 13:00

Event Address

The next museum visit will be to the Irish Labour History Society Museum and the National Print Museum, Beggars Bush, Haddington Rd., Dublin 4 on Saturday 28th July at 11:15 - 13:00. This is a free event and members are encouraged to bring a guest. Prospective members are also welcome. The central garrison in the Beggars Bush complex houses the Irish Labour Society Museum, filled with documents relating to labour and industrial history. These buildings hold a certain level of historic significance in that they were the first British military emplacement to be appropriated by the Irish Government in the wake of the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1922. "Beggars Bush" subsequently became the headquarters of the Government Stationery Office. The National Print Museum is housed in a former soldiers' chapel and the old military buildings surrounding the Museum create a unique historical backdrop for the exhibition of implements, artefacts and machines from all sectors of the printing industry in Ireland, many of which are still in full working order as will be demonstrated by printmakers who will do a special print demo for IMA members.Venue: Irish Labour History Society Museum & National Print Museum Date: Saturday, 28th July 2012 Bookings: Contact the IMA office on +353-1-412 0939 or click here to make an email booking.
