The launch of Museum Technology: A Critical Primer, an introduction to key technologies in a cultural context, will take place on Wednesday 8th February at IMMA, Dublin.

This event will include a panel discussion (16:00 – 17:15, lecture room @IMMA) with Dr Órla Murphy, Head of the Department of Digital Humanities, University College Cork, and Daniel Leufer, Senior Policy Analyst, Access Now, followed by the publication launch in the main reception from 17:15.

Formed in October 2021, The Muse-Tech Working Group is a collective of professionals from a cross-section of museums on the island of Ireland. With contributions from civil rights organisations, academia, and the tech industry, the group – supported by the IMA and IMMA - have been exploring the social and ethical implications of emerging technologies such as AI, VR, blockchain and the metaverse, and their applications in a cultural context.

This publication, partly supported by a IMT-IMA Research & Development grant, distils the research and presents it in an accessible way. Hard copies will be available free of charge.
