Iveagh Trust, Tenement Flat, Dublin 8
30 November | 11:15 - 13:15
Event Address
Join our museum visit to the Iveagh Trust, Tenement Flat, Dublin 8 for a tour on Saturday 30 November. This is a free event and members are encouraged to bring a guest. Prospective members are also welcome. Number 3B was preserved as a museum piece in 2002 after the death at the age of 95 of its last tenant, Nellie Molloy, who had lived there all her life, resisting all offers to bring her flat up to the modern standards enjoyed by her neighbours. Edward Cecil Guinness was the younger brother of brewer Arthur Guinness and had the housing complex built to replace slum dwellings in 1901. Trustees of the Iveagh Trust recognise the historic importance of the flat and continue to maintain it in its original condition as an example of early 20th century Dublin tenement living.
Meet at 11.15 for at Iveagh Trust Tenement Flat, 3b Iveagh Trust, Bull Alley Estate, Patrick Street, Dublin 8.
