#IMACoffeeBreak: Playful Culture Trail

26 April | 12:00 - 12:40

Irish Museums Association (IMA)

Event Address

Join us for a mid-day #IMACoffeeBreak where we will be discussing the Cork City Playful Culture Trail.

Museums, galleries, and attractions in Cork City have come together with support from Cork City Council and other partners to create a Playful Culture Trail, featuring 30 fun and playful places where kids can explore the city’s culture, heritage and green spaces through play.

IMA member sites like Nano Nagle Place, Butter Museum, Cork Public Museum, The Glucksman, and The Crawford Gallery are just a few of the museums and attractions that have joined together to offer this fun-filled exploration of Cork City. Some of the contributors of this city-wide project have agreed to help lead us in a discussion of their motivations and experiences, the creative activities they implemented, and the project outcomes for both visitors and their organisations.

This #IMACoffeeBreak will be of interest to anyone wanting to adopt a more playful or cross-institutional approach in their museum and community. The forty minute session will begin with a few of the Playful Culture Trail contributors recounting the role they each played in bringing this project to fruition. This will be followed by an open-floor dialogue and Q & A. If you are from one of the museums or galleries that participated in the Cork Playful Culture Trail or have experience with a similar project, come prepared to join the conversation and share your perspectives.

These regular gatherings of colleagues aim to provide connectivity between IMA members, allow you to share information and strategies, exchange ideas, and - most importantly - support each other in our work.

The IMA Virtual Coffee Breaks are open to IMA members only (Individual members and staff from Institutional and Museum members). We have limited capacity at each session so please book early by logging in to your/your museum's account to avoid disappointment. Should you have difficulties using our membership system, contact
