#IMACoffeeBreak: Digital Storytelling - Creative Industries and New Technologies
24 June | 12:00 - 12:45
Irish Museums Association (IMA)
These regular online gatherings of colleagues aim to provide connectivity between IMA members, allow you to share information and strategies, exchange ideas, and - most importantly - support each other in your work.
Join us for an online talk with Elaine Sisson, Senior Lecturer, IADT, where we’ll explore a pilot research project funded by the Irish Research Council (IRC) in 2022, focused on teaching digital storytelling to art/design, and museum professionals with little to no experience in immersive technologies. Elaine will share the motivation behind the pilot, the process, the participants, and the insights learned from this initiative. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover how digital storytelling can transform the museum and heritage sectors.
Dr. Elaine Sisson is a cultural historian and Senior Lecturer at IADT, Dublin where she is the Academic Lead for the Creative Futures Academy. She has a particular interest in creative pedagogies and innovative ways of thinking about history. In 2021, for the Royal Irish Academy, she produced a series of podcasts exploring new approaches to historical study. In 2022 she was awarded a New Foundations award from the Irish Research Council to run a pilot project on Digital Storytelling. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in the UK and was recently awarded a 2024-25 Teaching Fellowship to explore the creative use of history and archives.
