Green Teams - Sectoral Meeting
14 January | 09:30 - 10:15
Irish Museums Association (IMA)
Green team members and interested staff from the culture and heritage sectors are invited to participate in this conversation, part of a series of sectoral meetings on green team projects and priorities, and how these can effectively collaborate to enhance sustainable practices and climate action across the cultural sector.
In recognising the unique roles that green teams play in our organisations for the benefit of society, these meetings aim to provide a platform for dialogue, foster new relationships, and encourage cross-sector teamwork.
In this session, Adrian Fitzpatrick, Sustainability Manager at National Museums NI, will share how they are striving towards greater sustainability. Despite being only a couple of years into its journey, Adrian will outline the small incremental steps, from becoming the first public sector organisation in Northern Ireland to undertake a carbon audit, to initiatives such as creating wildflower meadows and hedgerows at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museums at Cultra. He will also highlight the museum's involvement in the Climate COP at Tate and restoration of long-established woodlands.
National Museums NI aspires to become a leader in the sector in relation to sustainable practice by inspiring audiences and stakeholders to take action. Adrian will also give insights into engaging staff and senior leadership within the Museums of NMNI.
