The IMA and NIMC have partnered again for 2022 to present the annual Education + Outreach (Ed+O) Forum - a day of discovery and sharing of knowledge, as we explore projects in museum learning and community engagement.

The Ed+O forum is a key event in the calendar for museum practitioners and educators from the wider cultural sector to meet and discuss topics of interest to their learning programmes, with a focus on the impact of museum on our communities. 

It provides an informal and supportive platform for exchanges of learnings, reflections on practice, and engagement with colleagues. With ample time for debate, it affords a place for critical engagement, examination and experimentation of ideas; where a lasting contribution can be made to the development of life-long learning and social impact in the museum context.

Programme

The forum will take place on-site in Dublin on Monday 16 May, from 10:30 - 16:30. 

• Zoooming through Hugh Lane Gallery: Enabling the creative potential of children throughout Dublin City. Presented by Jane Fogarty, Zooom facilitator, Hugh Lane Gallery
• Dancing out of Lockdown: An Embodied Response to Contemporary Exhibitions at LCGA.  Presented by Brendan Egan, Learning Co-Ordinator, Limerick City Gallery of Art and Philippa Donnellan, Dance Artist, DL.BRIDGE Curator, Dance Limerick.
• Intergenerational practice and the museum: an education and outreach case study. Presented by Michael Fryer, Outreach Officer, Northern Ireland War Memorial
• Apollo Project: Exhibitions created by young people, for young people at the National Gallery of Ireland. Presented by Catherine O’Donnell, Education Officer: Teachers, Schools and Youth, National Gallery of Ireland (NGI), Kate Drinane, Tours, Talks, Training & Interpretation Officer, NGI; and representatives of the Gaisce LikeMinded Project and the Apollo Project Young Curators
• Little Houses, Big Ideas. Presented by Helen Beaumont, Education & Outreach Officer, NMI Decorative Arts & History and Johanna Visser, Youth Worker, Stoneybatter Youth Service.
• The GAA Museum – Pivot, pivot, pivot! Presented by Julianne McKeigue, Events, Education and Retail manager at the GAA Museum.
• Enacting change: Hitting the ground running: Lisburn Museum’s Shared History NI Centenary Quilt project. Presented by Emma Breadon: Assistant Education Officer, Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum.
• Diversity Academy: Community, Creativity and Change. Presented by Shauna Allen, Museum Educator / PhD Candidate (UCC) and Danielle O’Donovan, Programme Manager, Nano Nagle Place.
• From Megafauna to Minibeasts – Facing new challenges in museum education. Presented by Nigel Cook, Education Officer: Natural Sciences, National Museums NI Ulster Museum and Ulster Folk Museum.
• Cool Fossils & Hot (Climate) Facts! A Case Study from NMI-Natural History. Presented by Siobhán Pierce, Geraldine Breen and Emma Murphy, who are the educators responsible for programming for NMI-Natural History.
• The Soil Project, and other climate actions at Butler Gallery. Presented by Hollie Kearns, Learning and Public Engagement Curator, Butler Gallery.

Sound recordings will be made available to registered delegates following the event.

Registration includes light lunch and refreshments. 

General Registration is open to all: €35 / STG£30. 

IMA and NIMC members: €25 / STG£21. IMA members' can avail of the subsidised rate by logging into a registered account. NIMC members should click on general registration and apply the discount code provided to them.
