CHERISH End of Project Conference: Ambition, Delivery and Legacy
21 March | 00:00 - 23:59
CHERISH
CHERISH is an acronym for Climate, Heritage and Environments of Reefs, Islands and Headlands. The €6.1 million multi-disciplinary project, of which €4.9 million has been delivered through the EU-funded INTERREG Ireland-Wales 2014-2020 Programme, has focused on understanding the effects of climate change on our seas and coasts. The primary project partners have been the Discovery Programme along with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, Aberystwyth University: Department of Geography and Earth Sciences, and Geological Survey Ireland.
On Tuesday 21st March 2023 CHERISH will hold its final conference. At the Printworks, Dublin Castle, we will present the final findings, products and lessons learnt from this 6-year, €4.9 million project. Most importantly, this will include launching our Good Practice Guidance: a how-to guide on the project’s “toolkit” for researching at-risk sites.
The day will include papers from members of the team, heritage professionals who have worked with the project, and those who have developed and refined the Toolkit. Panel discussions, chaired by members of our advisory committee, will address the themes of “understanding loss”, “living with change”, “raising awareness” and “looking forward". We will be joined by representatives from a wide variety of businesses, with Trade Stands to explore during refreshment breaks. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and there will be a drinks reception in the evening 5-7pm as an opportunity to network.
The event is free and everyone is welcome.
Join this event if you want to hear about the ways that we can approach coastal, intertidal and marine sites at risk from climate change. There will be chance to discuss the future of climate heritage, and how we as heritage professionals can engage with the risks posed by climate change.
