Senior Executive Assistant, UCD Classical Museum

University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking to appoint a senior executive assistant, UCD Classical Museum, to provide administrative support, and assist with outreach, communications, documentation and research, under the direction of the Curator and the Head of School. This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

UCD Classical Museum is one of the main cultural heritage collections of UCD, and is the only museum in Ireland dedicated entirely to material from the ancient Mediterranean. This unique collection includes ceramics, coins, inscriptions, and glass from Greece, Italy, Egypt and Cyprus, ranging from Neolithic through to Late Antiquity in date.

The Museum is at the heart of teaching and research in the School of Classics and is utilised by the university and the wider community. It has an active outreach programme, is open to the public, and is committed to promoting research into its collections.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the daily operations of the Classical Museum, including but not limited to tasks such as liaising with maintenance and cleaners, supervising the front desk, and overseeing bookings.
  • Undertake inventory of the collection, including entering records into a database
  • Provide support as needed to prepare the collection for decant during planned building refurbishments
  • Assist with the outreach programme by organising school visits and delivering tours and/or other museum based activities for visitors
  • Provide administrative assistance with conference organisation
  • Participate in creating an oral history of the Classical Museum
  • Deliver social media content and promote the Museum elsewhere as required
  • Other relevant duties as requested by the Curator

Salary range:

€41,591 - €51,084 per annum. Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
