Internships should provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a working environment to those looking to explore or gain the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a particular career field. These can vary widely in structure, duration, remuneration and outcomes. The IMA would recommend that terms be read carefully before proceeding with an application. The IMA has taken part in the Working Groups of the following Good Practice documents: Best Practice Guidelines for Internships, by Visual Artists Ireland and the Volunteering in the Arts Toolkit, with Volunteer Ireland and Voluntary Arts Ireland.
