William Blair is director of collections at National Museums Northern Ireland and was elected chair of the board of directors of the Irish Museums Association in April 2017.
William is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and holds a Masters Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. He joined NMNI in 2009, having worked previously in the independent and local museum sector. As former head of Human History (and Transport) for NMNI, with responsibility for the development and management of the department and its collections, he has led and participated in research and public programmes relating to the collections and has played a significant part in enhancing the organisation's academic and public reputation. He has extensive experience in developing partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders relevant to the work of NMNI and the IMA.
