Survey of Irish Museums 2015 (Research)

Posted: Monday, 07 December 2015

The 2015 all-island Survey of Irish Museums has now commenced. This is the first time in over a decade that a comprehensive survey of Irish museums has taken place. The survey is administrated online and is currently open to respondents.

This vital research on the museum sector has been funded by the Irish Research Council, and is being undertaken jointly by the School of Art History and Cultural Policy (UCD), the Irish Museums Association, and the Irish Museums Trust.

The survey will result in an important benchmark of information on the heritage and museum sector on the island of Ireland; it is more detailed than previous surveys, and uses questions comparable to those on EU surveys of museums and surveys conducted by our nearest international neighbours. It will therefore provide an unprecedented instrument for cross-regional and international comparisons of the sector, and a tool for future advocacy and development. We look forward to your participation in the project.
