The IMA would like to invite papers for the Education and Outreach Forum 2015. Celebrating its 10th year, the forum has firmly established itself in recent years as a key event in the calendar for museum educators to meet and discuss topics of interest to their programmes. From discussing resources to individual projects, the IMA Education and Outreach forum provides an informal platform to share your findings and engage with your colleagues and others working in museums, galleries and cultural institutions. It is intended as a place for critical engagement, examination and experimentation of ideas, where a lasting contribution can be made to the development of education in the museum context. A selection of papers are published our journal Museum Ireland each year.
We are interested in hearing from you if you have been working on a new and innovative access, outreach / education project that is happening on the ground - or have an example of creative engagement and learning - in museums and galleries.
This year, we would particularly welcome papers referencing projects that enhance engagement with collections by diverse communities.
Submissions must be sent by Monday 20 April 2015 to Gina O'Kelly, Irish Museums Association and must contain:
- Full name, job title and institution (if applicable)
- Email address and telephone number
- Personal Biography (150 words max)
- Proposed Title of presentation
- Presentation Abstract (200 words max)
The forum will consist of short papers of 15 minutes duration with ample time for discussion. Speakers must be available to present in person in Dublin on Friday 19 June 2015. The language of the forum will be English. Papers are selected by a panel of museum professionals and educators. Detailed information on the members of the panel and selection criteria is available from Gina O'Kelly at the IMA.
