The Irish Museums Association would like to invite submissions of papers for the IMA Forum: Industrial and Working Collections, open to curators, conservators, archivists and other museum professionals. Submissions may cover a variety of topics relating to the management, care and history of Industrial and Working Collections. These can include original research; case studies; history of collections; education; care and storage and review papers.
The purpose of this forum is to give colleagues a chance to share findings, debate and engage with other working in museums, galleries and cultural organisations that relate to our industrial heritage - whether through the collections they hold or the architecture of the buildings that house them.
The forum will consist of 6-8 short papers of 15 minutes duration with Q&A and ample time for discussion, followed by a workshop or invited talk.
The Submission deadline has been extended to Monday 15 September 2014. Submissions should be emailed to Gina O’Kelly, Irish Museums Association at firstname.lastname@example.org and should contain:
- Full name and job title & institution (if applicable)
- Email address and telephone number
- Personal Biography (150 words max)
- Proposed Title of presentation
- Presentation Abstract (200 words max)
All applicants will be notified by email within one week of the submission deadline. Applicants will need to be available to present in person. Presentations will be no longer than 15-minutes duration, with extra time allocated for panel Q&A.
The Industrial and Working Collections forum will take place at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, on Monday 6 October 2014.
