Our museums are increasingly preoccupied with accessibility to their collections & new methods of engagement, resulting in the digitisation of materials in their care and the incorporation of ‘new' technologies - such as social media, games, apps and soundscapes - into their online presence strategies. This seminar, funded by the Department of Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht and hosted by the University of Ulster, Magee Campus, will aim to discuss the potential and the challenges of digital engagement: how interactive design interventions mould our experience of the museum; the environmental influences on the virtual visitor; and how today's technologies will translate into our collections in the future.
Friday 8 November: presentations and workshop.
Saturday 9 November: Derry-Londonderry City of Culture site visits.
The IMA will be organising budget accomodation and transport for delegates.
Further information on this event and link to bookings page will be available online from October.
