Adopt-a-Museum aims to put some of the lesser known museums into the spotlight. Those museums that are fantastic and do great work, but never feature on the "World's Most Popular Museums" lists. It's not a real adoption of course, instead it is supposed to be an advocate for the museum you have chosen.
There are 3 simple guidelines:
1. It cannot be a museum you currently work or volunteer at (otherwise everyone would adopt themselves, which is not the point of the project).
2. You need to have visited at least once, even if it's just on a holiday (so it doesn't have to be from the country you live in), as we think you can't be an advocate for something you've never seen.
3. It can't be a museum that's already well known (so you can't adopt the Smithsonian or the Louvre or the British Museum for example, although they are of course also great museums).
The project takes the form of a blog, where each week one new museum is featured, 'adopted' by a different person.
