Institutional Memory in Museums (Appeal)

Posted: Friday, 10 June 2011

A museum studies student with the University of Leicester is seeking feedback on the concept of Institutional Memory in museums and similar organisations. This form of memory encompasses the pragmatic accumulative day-to-day knowledge that staff and others who work within a museum retain but rarely record for use by others. Efforts to capture this information may include recorded interviews, the writing of basic informal job/collection "manuals", cross over training or diaries and other personal materials existing in archives.

If your institution has engaged in any programme to record such information, has attempted to do so or if you would like to engage in an email interview regarding the subject please Click here to contact Rebecca O'Neill by email.
