The Irish Museums Association (IMA) is a County winner in the Heritage Category of the National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2019, announced yesterday 2 May 2019.
These awards are aimed at honouring the inspiring work and achievements of thousands of projects, organisations and individuals all over Ireland with the help of Good Causes funding.
As an organisation that relies heavily on the voluntary contribution of support from its members, the IMA is delighted to share news of this award with our members and the museum community.
"It is very heartening to recieve this recognition of how we utilise the funding - part financed by National Lottery proceeds - received via the Heritage Council of Ireland to create an impact in our communities and advocate for our shared heritage" said Gina O'Kelly from the Irish Museums Association.
"The Good Causes Award not only resonates with our core values, but also acknowledges the contribution of our members who play an active role in the association by guiding, informing and supporting our activities"
With county winners in six categories: Sport, Health & Wellbeing, Heritage, Arts & Culture, Community, Youth, the IMA would like to congratulate all the county-stage winners, in particular those IMA members also awarded in this stage.
County winners will now go forward to the six regional finals, competing for a place in the national finals in Dublin on November 2. Each of the seven category winners will receive €10,000 and the overall Good Cause of the Year will receive an additional €25,000, to be reinvested in their Good Cause.
