The Irish Museums Association invites members to a visit to Dublin Port Company on Thursday 29 November at 15:45, hosted by Port Heritage Director Lar Joye.
Dublin Port shares a unique connection with the city of Dublin, with a common history, culture and community between the port and our capital city. Lar Joye, the recently appointed Port Heritage Director, will discuss how Dublin Port is presenting Dublin's rich maritime heritage in new and thought-provoking ways. Participants will gain insight to the port's heritage and the Dublin Port Archive, covering its history from 1707 to the present day. It will provide the opportunity to learn about the future heritage plans of Dublin Port and the development of initiatives that will provide improved access and engagement with researchers and the wider public.
Open to IMA members and their guests, the aim of these peer-to-peer museum visits is to highlight new developments and key projects, along with providing a learning exchange opportunity and an opportunity to explore different practices. They are provided free of charge but are limited to 20 participants so early booking is advised.
