Kids in Museums will be holding Teen Twitter Takeover on Friday 3 August 2018.
Since 2014, Kids in Museums has been running Teen Twitter Takeover - a day which allows teenagers to make their voices heard by taking control of museum Twitter feeds.
Last year, almost 70 museum Twitter handles were taken over by more than 300 young people, with a reach of around 300,000 people.
Teen Twitter Takeover empowers teenagers and gives them a platform to engage with museums, heritage sites, archives, libraries and art and science centres across the UK. The day provides an opportunity for young people to talk to their peers across the country and gain experience with museums and their collections. It helps museums to see their collections in a new light and better understand their younger audiences.
Many museums use Teen Twitter Takeover as a springboard for working with young people on Takeover Day, which gives children and young people the chance to have a meaningful role anywhere within a museum.
