Supporting job mobility

We aim to support the museum community by sharing information on career development and job vacancies within the sector, providing continued professional development (CPD) opportunities, and carrying out research on paid and volunteer staff within the museum sector.

The best way to stay informed about career development opportunities is to join our mailing list or become a member to receive our monthly e-bulletin.

  • Vacancies

We provide the most comprehensive listing of vacancies within the museum and related sectors on the island. If there is a vacancy in your organisation, why not avail of this service and submit it for publication on our website and reach a specialised audience?

Vacancies are also circulated via our monthly e-bulletin to members and subscribers. Note that many roles have short deadlines though so check our careers page regularly for new positions being advertised.

If applying for an Internships or volunteer opportunity, note that these can vary widely in structure, duration, remuneration and outcomes, we would recommend that terms be read carefully before proceeding with an application.

The IMA has taken part in the working groups of the following good practice documents: Best Practice Guidelines for Internships, by Visual Artists Ireland and the Volunteering in the Arts Toolkit, by Volunteer Ireland and Voluntary Arts Ireland.
