The NIMC Training Programme 2019-2020 is holding a session on Engaging Exhibitions: Interpretive Planning Workshop with trainers: Charlotte Dew from Touring Exhibitions Group.

Cost: £70 members/ £110 non-members

Details: At the heart of an effective exhibition or cultural experience is a story or range of narratives. Stories that bring the past to life, offer new perspectives on the present, help visitors to develop their ideas and creativity, and provide a sense of belonging and wellbeing.

To communicate these stories effectively the interpretation and wayfinding in an exhibition and venue at large must be well planned, designed and implemented, and must be suited to the audiences who will engage with it. For this reason, excellent and timely interpretative planning is essential.

This one-day workshop will provide attendees with the tools and resources to develop an effective and layered interpretative strategy, to guide the development of their visitor experience. It will give consideration to the range of interpretative approaches available, best practice and the needs of different audiences. It will draw on theory and a range of case studies, as well as providing the opportunity to put the information and ideas shared into practice.
