Marketing Executive, National Museum of Ireland, Dublin (6 month contract)

 The National Museum of Ireland is seeking applications from suitable candidates to fill the post of Marketing Executive based in Collins Barracks, on a 6 month fixed term contract. The salary will be the 1st Point of the Executive Officer PPC Scale €29,026.000. The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm, Friday 16 February 2018.

The purpose of this Marketing Executive role is the management and implementation of the marketing strategy and promotional plans for the 3 Dublin sites of the National Museum of Ireland.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working under the direction of the Head of Marketing and as part of Museum's Marketing Team in the following areas of activity:

• Strategic development and awareness of the National Museum of Ireland as one of the country's main cultural and educational institutions
• Deliver on a marketing plan which is designed to build awareness of the NMI as the country's main cultural and educational institution
• Develop increased awareness and recognition amongst target markets and segments of the National Museum as a multi-sited cultural institution
• Engage with the Media on issues on a cross functional basis
• Implementing the National Museum's branding programme and guidelines
• Work on market research programmes across all Museum sites
• Administer the marketing budget for the 3 Dublin sites
• Extend the visitor base through increased marketing activity both nationally and regionally
• Network to broaden awareness and recognition of the National Museum of Ireland amongst a broad variety of sectoral partners and service providers - especially in the tourism and cultural sectors (e.g. Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and other cultural institutions)
• Manage and implement advertising in various print, broadcast and other media
• Public relations work targeting relevant media
• Promote exhibitions and programmes including organising launches and other events
• Implement way-finding signage on-site
• Production of quality promotional literature suitably focused at specific target markets
• Work closely with the Marketing Executive in Turlough Park to promote the National Museum as a four-sited institution
• Liaise with other National Museum of Ireland personnel, particularly the Education & Outreach Department and curators
• Other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time

Personal Specification

Essential Requirements
• Applicants must have a third level qualification (NFQ Level 8 or above) in Marketing or other equivalent qualification acceptable to the Museum and at least 3 years' experience in marketing, budget management and brand development
• Knowledge of marketing theory and practice and understanding of strategic role of marketing
• Experience in PR project management
• Knowledge of market research processes
• Experience of event and project management
• Knowledge of media
• Strong sense of customer service
• Experience of digital marketing and social media
• Excellent IT Skills
• Good communication, report-writing and organisational skills - especially on a cross functional basis
• Budget Management
• Creative thinking, Initiative and Analytical skills
